Grand is a new documentary series following the journey of building something grand through music and life from Zurich. No scripts. No polish. Just the real story of an electro dream pop artist creating music for women who were told they were too much, and documenting every step of it.
Episode 1 starts at the kitchen table with a cat!
I went to Rosenkranz and Bernardo's place to rehearse for our upcoming Synth Club show at KuBaA Kulturbahnhof Affoltern on June 6. The plan was to work on music. What ended up on camera was a lot more than that.
New songs taking shape. Conversations about the music and where it is going. Bernardo, who is an amazing creator of dance pieces and installations, taking a break from our session to educate us on the plants in the house. A cat with his own set of rules who could not be bothered by any of us. And some moments that just needed to exist.
Siren is the song that started this whole friendship with Rosenkranz. It began as a rewrite of an earlier track called Swim to You. The moment I heard the instrumental, I was hooked. The words just came. And what grew from that song was not just a collaboration but something real. Good friends in music and in life. That is what happens when you open up to creative partnerships and stop trying to build everything alone.
This is what Grand is about. The music, the people, the daily moments, and everything in between. A new episode every few weeks.
